If polishing has been carried out with a machine and traditional abrasives: after passing with grit 3/4 or, even better, grit 4, place 2 or 3 spoonfuls of powder on the floor and apply a pad or a soft sponge with the machine. Then place the machine properly aligned on the wet powder, slightly open the water valve, and begin polishing a few meters at a time, creating a slurry on the surface with the consistency of yogurt or liquid cream. This slurry will be used to polish, making sure it never becomes too dry (as this would prevent the machine from sliding properly) nor too liquid (as this would prevent the polish from triggering the proper chemical reaction). When the slurry is used up, simply add more new polishing powder without removing the residue left on the surface. During polishing operations, it is recommended to remove the patina from a small area with a cloth or a squeegee in order to check the gloss level achieved and determine whether the process needs to be repeated. If polishing has been carried out with diamond tools or single-disc machines: polishing can be started after passing grit 400 or grit 800. Then proceed as above, using a pad/sponge or a soft anti-scratch white disc. At the end of the polishing treatment, it is recommended to remove all patina and wash with a neutral detergent such as DETERGON R3 or with a waterrepellent detergent like K-SOAP, in order to obtain a clear surface with excellent temporary resistance to dirt, with clean and protected joints, thus making daily maintenance easier.
